Carpenter's is Alexandria's main shelter for the homeless. In addition to providing emergency housing to families, single men and women, Carpenters provides the training and programs (A.A., adult literacy, mental health counseling) that lead to self-sufficiency.
In addition to our overflow shelter at St. Clement's, our parishioners also provide a dinner for the residents of Carpenters Shelter every 3rd Sunday of the month. A volunteer purchases either a main dish or salad (depending on the schedule) and two more volunteers bring the food and serve dinner and clean up. Saint Clement usually makes our famous chicken casserole (late fall and winter) or goulash (late spring and summer)
